well actually i think that in both cooking, and sewing also got
scope for creativity its just that, the syllabus then focused a lot
on the techniques.
e.g. my friend's class who did a duffel bag, they actually could
DESIGN it.. think about what colours, what decorations etc.
that was fun.
or u know.. can do cooking lessons lke... these ingredients, have
to cook different dishes using similar ingredients for potluck! etc
etc
actually not just these subjects, even academic subjects nowadays
have a lot more emphasis on functional knowledge instead of talking
abt particles all the time.
but I think during my time... teaching was a lot of 'point' and
'do'
